Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find out more information about cubs and scouts?

The scouting movement (including cubs) is a worldwide organisation which promotes a wide range of activities to members. See the Scouts NSW, or the Scouts Australia websites for more information

My son/daughter is interested in joining. What's the process?

We invite them to come along to trial several meetings before being invited to be invested. Once they are invested, they will receive a scarf and woggle as well as a record book. Meetings are usually held at the hall, but please contact us beforehand to confirm, as we sometimes organise off-site .activities

When and where do you meet?

Our meetings are generally in the hall at 72 Agincourt Rd, Marsfield, 2122
The cub pack is open to kids between 8 and 11 years old, and meets on Monday evenings (except school holidays and public holidays) from 7pm until 8:30pm.
The scout group (for youths 11 to 14 years old) meets on Thursday evenings from 7pm until 9pm.

How much does it cost?

As of 2019: The subscription fee is $250. A large proportion of this goes to the NSW Scout Association to cover insurance costs.

There is also a one-off joining fee of $30, and section fees of $10 per term to cover the cost of badges and resources. A uniform can be purchased on-line for $35.

There are also costs for camps attended, which will cover campsite fees and food etc. Scouts NSW is an approved provider of the Active Kids rebate programme, so you can use the Active Kids vouchers to offset the membership costs.

What about your child protection policy?

We take child safety seriously, and to this end, Scouts NSW have published this page on Child Health and Safety, which includes relevant links to our code of conduct and our child protection policy.
